Adrial White, 29, will be charged today with one count of first-degree intentional homicide and two counts of attempted first-degree intentional homocide, according to the The Journal Times. Mr. White allegedly shot two young men while they were allegedly breaking into his car. One of the young men, Christopher "Eric" Carbajal, died. He was nineteen years old.
Since the police are not charging Mr. White with an illegal weapons charge, I can only assume that the weapon was legal. Despite the fact that Mr. White is being described by family and friends as a nice and non-violent man, his ex-wife had gone to court twice to request a temporary restraining order. Further, Mr. White was charged, although the newspaper didn't if he was convicted, his court records show a violent disorderly conduct in 2002 and a battery in 1995.

Now, I wasn't there when Mr. White shoot to death a 19 year old kid. I didn't even know the kid and I don't know if he was an upstanding individual. I do know that even if he was breaking into a car just five blocks from my home, he didn't deserve to lose his life over it. And, I do know that even if he was the best father and hardest working person in the world, Mr. White should not have had that gun he used to take Mr. Carbajal's life.
Florida has concealed carry and now they're working on a "Shoot First" law. A law which would allow someone like Mr. White to shoot first, just like he did. If the senate and assembly overrule Governor Doyle's veto -- we will just be one step closer to "Shoot First".
Is that what we want?
Write your state senators and tell them you don't want them to overrule Governor Doyle's veto. Who knows who life you may save.

This wasn't terror, this was property. Should someone die because he stole a car radio? Plus, these two boys -- they weren't even old enough to drink -- weren't armed. You don't need to protect your property by using deadly force. No one should die for a car. He could've held the boys and waited for the cops. Then, these young men would have been arrested, but no, he chose to kill one of them and try to kill the other.
You say that life is God sent, then how can you believe that man should be allowed to determine who dies? Shouldn't death be God sent as well?
By the way, I happen to live right next door to that neighborhood and I don't feel terrorized by these thefts. I feel terrorized by the thought that my neighbors can shot first and ask questions later. Further, how would you feel if Mr. White had shot an innocent bystander while he was blowing away these "terrorists?" Would you still be defending him?
Finally, Jesus said to turn the other cheek. Shooting a man that is stealing from you is not following God or Jesus. I pray that our Lord and Savior shows the mercy on Mr. White's soul, that Mr. White refused to show to Christopher "Eric" Carbajal.

First I think it needs to be said that we DON'T KNOW if those men breaking into the cars had weapons. They had plenty of time to get rid of any weapons on their drive around town to find a hospital.
Second, I think its important to say that we don't know Adrial White's side of the story. The only side we've heard so far is that of those young men breaking into the vehicle. Human nature, especially the nature of young men with previous records for theft, would say that they aren't going to confess to any wrongdoing they had. They aren't going to tell the police that they pulled a gun/knife etc on White first. So I think its only fair to wait to see both sides of the story.
Third, you talk about "holding the theives." Do you seriously think these young men would have said "Sure, I'll wait for the cops to get here to arrest me for breaking into your car. No problem, I've got a couple hours to sit here and think about what I've done till the police show up." NO! Adrial White did what anyone would have done...he confronted them. After that point...the story gets fuzzy because these young men say that they simply tried running away. I highly doubt that they figured they were outnumbered when there was three of them and one of him. I wouldn't put it past the young men to think they could just beat Adrial (or even kill him) to make him feel threatened not to report their faces to the police.
This is all speculation and "what could have happened." But like I said, we don't know both sides of the story.
Apparently, the only post I've made in the last few days that gets a response is this one. I was unable to attend the meeting with the mayor and the police chief last night in Racine, but I saw on the news that it became pretty heated.
First, speaking from some knowledge of criminal statistics, most thieves do not carry weapons. Yes, it is possible that I am incorrect in the assumption that these kids didn't have weapons.
Second, of course we don't know Mr. White's side of the story since his lawyer isn't going to let him do any talking. You are also correct that we probably won't get a completely true account from the remaining young man. I thought the paper stated that Mr. White confronted two, not three, young men. From both sides, we probably won't get a complete story, as if you were Mr. White would you admit you shot an unarmed person?
Third, Mr. White had a gun, if I found myself confronted someone breaking into my vehicle and I had a gun, yes, I believe I could convince them to hang around and wait for the cops. By the way, I've called the Racine Police Department when I lived in a different neighborhood and I did not have to wait for them for hours.
Finally, Mr. White did not do what everyone would do. I would NOT confront the person or persons breaking into my car, I would call the police. When it comes right down to it, it's a car and I wouldn't risk my life for a car. If it was my child being attacked or my spouse or even my dog, I would risk confronting the attacker, but not for the contents of my car.
Mr. White has the right to defend his life and his PROPERTY. I feel very good about concealed carry laws, and I feel very good about the death of a felon caught in the act of breaking into someone's property.
Because of an increasing of lawlessness, the love our fellowman is cut short. I will not feel remorse for the death of a wrong doer.

While I disagree with you, Mr. Albarelli, I just wanted to say thanks for posting. I happen to not believe it is okay to take a life unless it is in the defense of your person or another person's life. Since Mr. White goes on trial today, we'll -- hopefully - find out all the facts on this case.
I did not approve of the concealed carry bill as it was written, but I am not entirely against concealed carry.
